Re: Removing Echo from 2trk recording made by SoundRecorder

I'm about to dip into this because of podcast equipment design. And yes, that's one thing you can't control...or help...or fix. This is no "hook" or identifying mark you can use to tell software what you want and what you don't. I know You know what's going on, but to the software it's jus...

Re: Keyboard recording is garbled.

Windows machines screw up music with the idea of making conferencing voices and Skype clearer. You can turn those tools off in Windows Control Panels.

Re: Radio signal while recording vinyl

It could be a radio station. There is an apartment complex not far from here that features, beside the north parking lot, radio station KWKW. 5000 watt. Two towers. I bet those people get Spanish Language Entertainment on their toasters. If you're in the US, they have to identify themselves in Engli...

Re: Lost Project

If the cat pulls the plug out while you are gone, Automatic Crash Recovery should work. No, I don't mean anything straightforward like that. I mean you get back from the Tesco and the screen is partially unresponsive or having any one of a number of "pre-crash" symptoms. Or Audacity just ...

Re: audio to audio recording

What kind of computer do you have? Connect the Headphone Out of the game console to the Stereo Line-In of the computer using that cable you have. If you have a Windows laptop, you may not have a Stereo Line-In and you may need to use an external USB sound adapter like the Behringer UCA202. This is a...

Re: Extract or Isolate Voices in normal conversation?

Audacity can't do forensics like in the CSI TV show. We may be able to suppress the hum and buzz a little, but the process is going to take the quiet voices with it. I don't know that I would have used MP3 for the sound file. MP3 is a compressed format and creates its own sound damage on top of what...

Tell us what you're recording. Exactly, with model numbers and connection cables. Who made the microphone?

Re: Audacity transfer becomes erratic and stops recording

You should post with the original speed problem! You have multiple problems on your machine and it would be good to know that. Most of the suggestions on the web page have to do with the computer not being powerful enough to do live sound. If you have one of those, then yes, turn off everything you'...

Re: How do I configure my speaker/mic jack as a line in?

"Real" computers (Desktops) usually have all three connections: Line-In, Headphone Out (doubles for Line-Out) and Microphone In. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/soundCardFinal2.jpg Laptops generally don't have room or expense for that, so they leave parts out. The usual laptop has M...

Re: Problem selecting section for Noise Removal profile

It should not be a slider. You should play your show until you get to a likely candidate of Noise with no voice, singing or other performance. That's very important. Noise Removal will not work if you can't do that. Then drag-select around that portion and magnify (Control-E). Play it [Spacebar] and...
