Re: Record Mic and Computer Sound Simultaneously
I'm tossing this around in the supervisory part of the forum. I think I can do their show -- possibly better than they're doing it -- with this. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/UniversalPodcast-I.jpg I'm arranging for someone to test Skype with me. One extension to this system is not have the...

Re: available in Mac App Store
I can think of one reason not to do that. You have to go through the Apple Certification and Acceptance process to get something into the store. Then when you do an update, you have to do it all again. Do you have time for that? Are you volunteering? This isn't a corporation. We're all volunteers. Koz

Re: No input jack on new iMAC
Or a much less complicated way to do it: Plug the adapter in. Give the machine a second to think about it. Launch Audacity > Use the input drop-downs next to the microphone symbol, select "USB Audio Codec" and "Stereo." Audacity only checks for USB devices once at startup. You ca...

Re: No sound from web after using audacity
Does anything else go away like Windows Media, DVD Player, keyboard sound effects etc?
Are you self-recording? Recording Stereo-Mix or one of the other magic software devices? What is the show you're recording and editing?

Re: Bringing back vocal to front
No, and you probably won't, either. You want to take apart a mixed song into individual instruments and voices, remix it and put it back together. You join quite a list of people who want to do that. Vocal Removal is a simple arithmetic tool that eliminates anything common between left and right. Th...

Dueling messages.
If you go into Windows Control Panels, can you see your FireWire device? Is it selected?

Re: Audacity hangs when Record icon is engaged
Before you actually start recording, try going into monitoring and see if the sound is actually getting to Audacity. Pull the meters really wide if you haven't already. Click the right-hand meter edge and pull sideways. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_playback.jpg Right-click inside the red...

Re: Recording 2 things at once/muting channels
AKG414 will not work on a PC Right. The 48 volts has to come from somewhere. My mixers can all be switched to supply it and I even have a modest stand-alone box whose sole purpose it is to supply the mic with 48v. That's all it does. It passes the sound straight through. In the AKG case the gulf be...

Re: How to have the same volume/gain for all my songs?
What happens if you run Amplify and change the second number (New Peak) to -1? Do that to several songs. Is that better? There are ways to set dynamic compressors and other exotic tools at your songs, but if you're reasonably rational about your performances, this should go a long way to evening thi...

Re: i need help asap
This problem didn't bubble up to the top of the help system because nobody can think of a way for Audacity to break like you have. Audacity may not have always warned you what is was going to do, but I think it always mixed down to plain stereo. Plain, stereo WAV files are acceptable in all three co...
