Analyze > Silence Finder.
The tool which deletes the silences may be a custom tool.

You want to do two jobs. Noise Gate will recognize quiet segments and reduce the volume to zero, but it doesn't make the show any shorter.
Then software that recognizes dead silence and deletes it from the show. I think there's a tool to do that. I need to look.

Who is the manufacturer? did you contact them? What did Google have to say about it? If you're on Windows, you can force it to show you filename extensions. The problem is people needing different results when they change the loudness of their tracks, and they supply sometimes very different clips and songs to do it. One size doesn't fit everybody. There is a thing called Sound Check on an iPod which is supposed to even out the sounds in your playlists....

The Batch system in Audacity is called Chains. All of the tools and filters have not been written to support chains yet.

Not all computers support Self Recording. It's not a guaranteed service.

Without actually trying to figure out what you did... Read one chapter without stopping. Press Stop.
