Re: 64 byte Windows 8 Recording Problem
That's the voice and conferencing tools, Windows Enhanced Services. I think that's still valid in Windows 8.

Re: Speed of recording
It wasn't before.... what?
Oh, it sounded OK when they were on-line.
You may have sound formats that Audacity doesn't recognize. Install the FFMpeg software and that problem may go away.

Re: Why is Left Channel Only Recording?
Which on most computers is mono. Some machines have the ability to "convert" one connection between stereo and mono. Consult your computer instructions. It's impossible for us to guess at it.I've been using the MIC Connection.

Re: Randomly losing signal
As I recall, the power goes down different wires from the data. It's possible to have one without the other. I have a USB printer cable that only works if I massage its feet with olive oil and feed it vanilla ice cream -- on Thursday. Then it's fine. Otherwise, no printing. I thought it was the comp...

Re: Randomly losing signal
Audacity only looks for USB devices at startup or rescan. It may think there's a device there...
After a failure, rescan. If the device vanishes from the device list, then the connection vanished.

Re: Speed of recording
It's probably recording or creating them too slow. Slow computers drop bits here and there, not enough to cause a fiery crash, but enough to cause a speed change -- always up. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#sync http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Managing_Comp...

Re: Randomly losing signal
Next time it does that, Transport > Rescan Audio Devices. Did it come back? You may need to open the Recording drop-down next to the microphone. If it all comes back, then you may have an erratic USB connection and when the conditions are right, just drops the data connection for a second. If it doe...

Re: Why is Left Channel Only Recording?
Can you get closer? Our Lenovo Thinkpad has three audio connections, Mic-In, Line-In, and Headphones/Line-Out. The Mic-In is mono and sometimes records "stereo" with the same thing on both sides. Line-In (blue??) is full stereo. At the risk of being a little too beginner on you, did you un...
