Conversion to mono just adds up the two tracks and divides by two (to keep from overloading and distorting). The parts that vanished are out of phase -- usually through a wiring accident, so when left and right are added up, the result is zero. Divide by two and it gets even worse. You should pay at...

Most CD Players including the software ones have skip, scan, and repeat buttons. To repeat a song, press "Back" once and the song will repeat from the beginning.

This is pretty unusual, so it's possible your screen and the screen preferences are out of sync.
Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Display > 1920 x 1080 (Make sure this matches your actual display)

Control-Click (right-click if you have that) once on the Audacity icon in the dock > Hide. Then click again > Show.

You might restart Audacity if you make that many changes and see if the changes "stick."

1. You must be recording a real, physical device like Mic-In or a USB Microphone and not a Self-Recording device like Stereo-Mix. Edit > Preferences > Devices > Recording > "USB Audio Device" (for example) 2. Edit > Preferences > Recording > [_] Playthrough (de-select) Did that help? Koz
