Re: Chris Capel's Dynamic Compressor

The early versions of Chris's Compressor had problems with leading and/or trailing words. The "Look-Ahead" system didn't understand beginnings and endings. He was aware of this problem. I don't have that problem with 1.2.6 -- that I can tell.

Re: Registry Error

This has happened before. Somehow we managed to produce a Windows error on a Mac. I'm not sure this is an advance.

So it's not a one-off. You're both on iMacs, too.

Re: Saving And Exporting

Try using very plain filenames with no punctuation. Today is not 4/15/13. It's 20130415.

Punctuation marks can drive computers nuts.

Also, make sure you stopped the show and not just paused it.

Like this pink thing. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PCLaptopSound.jpg Mic-In is very sensitive and designed for communications like this. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/computerAnalogMicrophone....

Here's mine. MacBook Pro 10.5.8 (current version is 10.8.3) 4GB RAM 112GB Solid State Drive with linux-based operating system and 24GB free. Default click track. I went through the whole production system. Microphone, mixer, headphones, computer Line-In to Line-Out. I didn't bother to set Recording ...

Re: Preliminary "Phoneme finder" toy

Could this be the base code for a killer De-Esser? Right now, Audacity has to go to outside products for De-Essing. There is no internal or home product. "Essing" is what happens when you have normal speech recorded with a rising frequency characteristic. Sooner or later, the performer is ...

Re: Latency Rate Changes Each Time I Record! Help!

OK, we're clear on the error. Thank you for the detail. Many people, me included, find it helpful to listen to our own voice in real time during the overdubbing performance. You don't work that way, so that problem just never comes up for you. That still leaves an apparent wandering Record Latency. ...

Re: More Volume

If you have a highly compressed MP3 file and you make it louder into another highly compressed MP3 file, the new file can sound gargly and honky. Is that what you have? MP3 files are very difficult to process and change.

Re: playback is garbled

You left out the part where you describe your computer and how you connected the recorder to it. Windows laptops are not wildly happy about doing jobs like this. The only connection on many Windows laptops is tiny pink Mic-In and if the only connection to your recorder is Headphone-Out, that may cre...
