Re: Microphones.... I'm Confused
intend to do field sound recordings Of what? Field sound can be an adventure and depending on what you're doing, takes specialized microphones. One very serious problem that new recordists have is a great misunderstanding of environment sound or noise. Anybody with almost any microphone can get a p...

Re: Saved Projects Not Opening Right
Did you use external sound files in your show? If you did and you told Audacity not to make personal copies of the music (a preference setting) , then the music files must be included in the show move between computers. Worse, the music files have to be in exactly the same directory/folder used in t...
Re: No Signal
Close Audacity. Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. Is your device listed there? Does the blue dot sound meter jump when you play music? If not, then you are not presenting music to the Mac. Actually, better, if you can see your USB device in the list, you are not pre...

Re: Automated aligning audio tracks with timings for dubbing
Just so I understand, you want to present an Edit Decision List (edl) to Audacity, press Go, and then drink coffee (or tea).

Re: Recording stereo mix and laptop mic together in Windows
Past using two computers and a mixer, we know of people using Kristal Audio Engine.

Kristal Audio Engine apparently creates and manages the missing sound pathways that Microsoft removed from Win7.

Re: can't switch off dubbing
You seem to be recording from your built-in microphone instead of the turntable.
Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Devices > Recording > Device. Make sure that's pointed to the USB Sound Device and not the built-in microphone.

Re: mic problems
The connection on an iPad is not a simple Mic-In or Line-In. I believe it's designed for complex headsets like for Skype or other communications. We went through this once with a friend in New York. We found two ways to do it. This is a simple adapter cable that goes between a Computer Microphone li...

From the top: Put the Disk Image (dmg) file on your desktop and double click on it to "explode" it to its contents. Drag the audacity folder into Applications. When it settles, open Applications > audacity and there should be an Audacity application. Drag that to the Dock or just double cl...
