Re: How do I compare two audio files?
Maybe not in Audacity. Audacity works internally at 32-floating, so pulling a sound file in and exporting a new one involves two data conversions. People who try to do scientific experiments with Audacity run into that right away. In your case, the results will be the compression artifacts plus the ...

Re: re audacity and Rhode podcaster...
Audacity automatically checks for new hardware when it starts. So restart Audacity. Then change Audacity preferences from stereo to mono. All of my USB microphones work in mono and not stereo.

Re: Possible bug with importing large raw audio files?
So that wasn't a typo. You really are trying to manage sound files with a 480KHz sample rate.

Re: Installed Audacity - no more browser audio
When I installed Audacity and opened it I noticed that I was unable to hear any sound from my browsers. You missed an important step. Could you hear Audacity playback? The suggestion, since you went directly between those two is you are trying to record on-line video sound from, say, YouTube? In or...

Re: Recording level drops to zero during long loud note
Your computer thinks the performance is air conditioning noise and is trying to cancel it. You should find and turn off Window Enhanced Services and any other special filters or enhancements you find. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#Why_do_my_recordings_fade_o...

Re: Lots of Clicking
It seems to me that the first recording I do in a new session... So you're doing overdubbing or sound-on-sound? Overdubbing stresses the machine -- not on the first track (assuming you didn't record a click track first), but tracks two, three, and on. The machine has to play all the older tracks pe...

Re: HOW DO YOU SET UP 2.0.3
I removed your phone number. We are a SPAM magnet and posting any personal contact information is a bad idea. When you play a record and press Record does your Audacity look more or less like this? http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_record.jpg I make my sound meters bigger by clicking on the r...

Re: Compressed project files have no audio!
That does work for me using the same machine and Audacity.
I enclosed the stereo sound file I used. You try it. Koz

Re: Can't Hear Synth Anywhere Other Than Its Own Phones
Also, MIDI isn't "input." It's bi-directional machine control, not audio at all. I use adapter cables on my keyboard's headphone output and record that. Koz

Re: strange problem
Audacity > Edit > Preference > Devices > Recording > Device Is that pointing toward your recorder? Just to do it, unplug the recorder and close Audacity. Restart the machine, plug in the recorder when the machine becomes stable and then start Audacity. In exactly that order. Still problems? Do you h...
