If you recorded a set from your mixer and it sounded good going to the floor, you should be able to record the mixer "Tape-Out" and set the levels for a good, clean recording in Audacity. After that, play the track back into the mixer and on to the floor. Adjust mixer levels as needed. The...

You should not get your hopes up. Nobody can restore a damaged performance to crystal clear and white noise is a major problem.

Try changing the filename and don't put any punctuation marks in. A common error is dates. Use the international form 2013-05-02. Underscore and dash are acceptable.

See if you can borrow a cable instead of buying one. It's not likely to be the cable. Koz

Terrific graphics, but we're still going to need the machine, OS version and Audacity version.
I'm typing this on a three year old Mac Mini, OS-X 10.6.8 and I use Audacity 2.0.3.

Mic-In on most Windows Laptops is mono and very delicate -- easily overloaded. If you have an actual soundcard, use the blue Stereo Line-In.

You should try it anyway. The only reason I specified that USB unit was it worked very well and I have one and have access to many others. The first line in that wiki: "Known, good, working." And again, if you never make it past one level of overdubbing, you don't need overdubbing at all. ...
