Re: Sound Problems
64 is the minimum for stereo. Many people can tell there's something wrong and if you do much lower, everybody can tell there's something wrong. It falls apart pretty quickly. Minimum for mono is 32, so a good, clear, healthy mono at 96 should sound petty good -- assuming you started out with a perf...

Re: newbie needs both immediate and longer term help
Found one. This was so exciting I had to lie down afterward. This was done with a Shure SM58 on a mic stand with shock mount. The performer was standing. No pix. Sorry. I delivered in Stereo WAV, not MP3. MP3 is just so the forum will accept it. "And....Speed!" is me in the background. &qu...

Re: newbie needs both immediate and longer term help
I still have some of the tracks from the sound shoot in that picture. I'll see if I can find them. "They need a voice track for an animation. There's a quiet room in back of Film Editorial/Production. See if you can get a microphone down there. I cleared it with the film guys. They're going to ...

Re: newbie needs both immediate and longer term help
Rambling is good. We like rambling. The people who drive us nuts are the ones who post: "Audacity doesn't work. Why not!?!" Write this down. This may be the first time I recommend against using a Peavey PV6. The PV6 does not have battery power. You can't do field recording with it -- easil...

Re: Sound Problems
Public posting services used to destroy uploaded shows because they didn't have efficient compressors and they did have limited space to publish the shows. Most services do much better now, but if you are using a service that insists on recompressing the work, anything you put on-line is going to so...

Re: syncing two tracks?
You would have been good had the piano and drum played to a metronome. Having them wander during the song is going to be very interesting to fix.

Re: Metallic (tin can) sound when played back
I'm in Los Angeles and I use the downloads of many shows. The air show is frequently shorter than the download because of local station promotions and messages stepping on portions of the show. PodCast Downloads are generally clean -- and longer.

Re: Metallic (tin can) sound when played back
You missed a step. Windows from Vista on have conferencing software to "help you." Sometimes it helps you so much the show stops working. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#enhancements You can also get into trouble if you're recording Stereo-Mix and yo...

Re: Increasing volume in vocals over background noise
is there anyway to separate the noise from audio The short answer is no. Live Recording is hard. It's actually worse because "everybody knows" it's easy. You walk in with your new recorder and press the red button. The video people have a joke that sound kills more videos than the video d...
