Re: newbie needs both immediate and longer term help
We have multiple Peaveys in service and have yet to kill one, unlike our pile of dead Mackies. The internal microphone amplifiers are remarkably quiet and well behaved, a primary requirement for live recording. The PV6 has a low cut rumble filter for "hurricane reporting" and the ability t...

Re: Cutting audio from one MP3 and placing it in another
While it's natural to think you have to cut and paste into one single track, that may not be the best way in your case. Open one song and then import the second one. The second song will appear under the first and play at the same time. Use the Time Shift Tool (sideways black arrows) to push one lat...

Re: newbie needs both immediate and longer term help
Actually, that was good. It gives us a price range. You're not terrified of going over $100 which is a very common restriction. "I want to mic the Boston Symphony. My budget is $36." At the risk of raining on the parade, the Tascam is at base a stereo device. It has two built-in microphone...

Re: Trying to do a multitrack recording
Try this. Set up for overdubbing, unplug your mixer from the soundcard, and press record anyway. Do you still get the old track recorded fresh on the new track? Are they in sync? If you listen to both of them at once, is there a slight echo between them? Do they sound a little concert-hally in your ...

Re: Trying to do a multitrack recording
You can tell by our blank looks we have no idea why your computer is doing this. The desirable method of "overdubbing" you write, with separate tracks, is the way this normally works. It works that way on multiple different machines that I have a goodness knows how many machines around Ear...

Re: Trying to do a multitrack recording
Are you wearing headphones? I think all the versions of the wiki are clear that you can only do overdubbing with headphones. Koz

Re: newbie needs both immediate and longer term help
Right then. Old people have no trouble telling the same story over and over again, so that's not a problem. For a two person interview that you can control, I'd use two lavalier microphones, one on the interviewer and the other on the guest. This has the advantage of being close to the voice and hel...

Re: Trying to do a multitrack recording
Still, Audacity is recording "everything the computer is doing" instead of just your microphone. Audacity > Edit > Devices > Recording > Device. That's one place and also: Windows > Control Panel > Audio or Sound. I'm not on a Windows machine. You should check both places. Windows should g...

Re: newbie needs both immediate and longer term help
Now that one there's specific recommendations for. Those are doable with relatively common microphones and I'll make a list sometime when it's not midnight.(all talk, mostly interviews-my talent is a profesional who will be directing interviews of doctors on particular subjects)
