Re: Problem with audacity and fraps
USB microphone? Traditionally, Audacity doesn't like to "playing with others." You have at least two different very serious sound services running on your computer at once. In addition, why are you using 24-bit audio for the microphone capture? I know recording artists use 24-bit, but it's...

Re: AIFF files will not play on iPod, will on iTunes
I made a nice AIFF file in Audacity 2.0.3 and it plays perfectly on both an iPod Touch and an older mechanical, spinning hard drive iPod.
This is the file I made.

Now you have to wait until one of us has time to stop what we're doing, drag out the iPod, connect it, etc. etc. etc.

Re: Vocal setting in Audacity
The samples are both perfect, studio produced songs. The obvious common thread is they both have a "full" sounding echo added to a very pleasant voice. The key is a straight, undistorted voice to start. If you add echo to a voice with room effects, you'll get a very odd sounding voice. Whi...

Re: Vocal setting in Audacity
When you post your vocal sample, do it with no filters or effects. We need to listen to the basic voice with ho help. A very common mistake is recording in a room with echo. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/EchoSample.mp3 This clip will always sound like it was recorded in the kitchen and there ...

Re: Uploading my recordings
I can't believe they force you to use WAV format. That's only for very short webcasts -- although they will sound terrific. Did you create a real sound file? Audacity will not Save a sound file. To get a real, stand-alone file you have to File > Export. Also, for longer podcasts, you should use MP3 ...

Re: Display true waveform instead of connecting the dots
Sorry if it came off that way. People who worry about sample level statistics, pixel count, and that last fractional dB before sound damage are generally using commercial music as the model on which to produce music. This is the commercial music that has been compressed and punished to always be the...

Re: Flat Line with Terratec DMX 6fire USB - pls help!
Go into Audacity Preferences and make sure they're not set to mono instead of stereo.
Audacity > Preferences > Dervices > Recording > Channels.
Also make sure you're at 16-bit, 44100 sample rate.

Re: Vocal setting in Audacity
What does your voice sound like? There is no professional audio filter. We have to hear what we're dealing with to know what to fix.

Re: Increasing volume of one side of a recorded call
Let me read this back to you. "I tried to record the Far side of a cellphone call using the Voice Recorder feature of the phone." Voice recorders are intended for the Near side of a conversation or straight local recording. Any far voice you manage to get into the recording is a result of ...
