Re: Recording on top of recording
First, if that happens again, you can use "Append Record" to make the existing recording longer. Shift-R. I think I would Save a Project before you try to do anything else. This will freeze the content so you can go back to the saved project if you break anything. You can use the Mute and ...

Re: HELP! Corrupt .aup file - 17750 orphaned files.
Did they close the laptop? I've done that and my recording seemed to survive the experience, but I wasn't running 10.8. I was horrified what I had done, but it seemed to pickup and run from where it was.
That would not work if it was recording, playing or paused when they did it.

They are mono yes. In the older Audacity, they would alternate Left - Right - Left - Right. Koz

Re: Voice alterations
We can't make your voice into anything else. It's a very popular request. The problem is announcers don't just have a low voice. They also have normal plosives and sibilants. If you and Gary Owens say "SSS" or "FFF" at each other, nobody will be able to tell who is performing, bu...

Re: Need Help to Record from Home Telephone to PC
I never wrote it up. I started. You won't need the white adapter if you're on a Windows machine with a Mic-In. You might want to use it anyway. Mic-In on most Windows machines will not win many quality awards.

Re: Audacity lowers volume when opening
I think Windows is trying to follow the Audacity settings for record and playback. Look at where the volume sliders are in the front work window when you start Audacity.

Re: How can i disable save project prompt?
I don't think you can. Audacity's job is to create a Project, not a sound file. It sees every job without a Project as a failed job.
