Re: Successfully Removed Mouth Noise With Nyquist Noise Gate
You win because I would have guessed you couldn't get any help at all. This is why we recommend Very Strongly that you get the recording perfect at the start. How many hours have you been struggling with this correction? The Noise Gate must guess at the leading and trailing edges of the correction -...

Re: Removing voice
There is a YouTube instructional video about how to do this job in Audacity -- the hard way. The one I saw takes you carefully through all the individual steps of splitting the tracks, phase reversal, etc. etc. etc. Effect > Vocal Removal has packaged all those steps into one tool and one pass for y...

Re: Crash after upload of mp3 music into voice track
I had to apply the effect a number of times with the same settings I have used right along on the other 49 shows but I don't get the results that the first version provided. Note how artfully I ignored the first question. The compressor depends quite a bit on the volume of the show before it's appl...

Re: distortion after exporting to MP3
I am using an unbalanced XLR to mini-plug. Are you really - really? Does it look like this? http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/UnbalBalAdapter.jpg If your 1/8" plug has more rings on it than that, this may be why some of your sound is distorted. The recorder claims to support stereo microphones. T...

Tell us where you read that.
You need lame to export an MP3 and FFMpeg to manage advanced compressed audio file formats.

Re: Trying to help a friend
I'm not on Windows, but here is a piece on stuck and stuttering cursors from the FAQ. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#pauses Basically, you can have bad driver software or the computer is too locked down to record live audio. It's not unusual for a computer no...

Re: Center-panned vocal isolation
What say you? I'd say you only think that if you also thought that the show before and after vocal removal is the same show. It's not. The show after vocal removal is mono, not stereo, so none of the arithmetic tools work. The proofs go on for pages, but the instruments playing in the second show h...

Re: How to reduce noise?
No. Probably not. The Audacity Noise Reduction tool is for quiet, constant noises like air conditioning rumble or computer fan noises. It won't do anything for static or a bus starting up outside the window or the dog barking next door. It works by "memorizing" a segment of noise without t...

Re: Need Help to Record from Home Telephone to PC
You may have one other Windows adjustment to make. Default Windows tries to help you with voice processing which you may not want.

Re: Getting Started
Since you appear to be just starting out, you should know that double compressing songs isn't a very good idea because the bubbley, honking sound compression damage goes up when you do. So if you download an already ratty MP3 song and make a (for example) AAC for your Virtual DJ, the music may not s...
