Re: Need tips for adjusting level
You can try Effect > Amplify, Effect > Normalize, the Envelope tool all on individual clips, or Chris's Compressor on the whole show. If all of your work is in the approximate volume ballpark, Chris's Compressor is the way to go. http://theaudacitytopodcast.com/chriss-dynamic-compressor-plugin-for-a...

Re: AUP files missing audio data
It's bothersome when people tell us they saved an "aup file" as if it was a sound file. It's not. It's the pointer to the similarly named _data folder which actually has the show in it divided up into small fragments. The _data folder and the aup file need to be in the same location or fol...

Re: Is it possible to rebuild this file?
Just "_data" or is there a show name like MyNewMusic_data? Did you search for "MyNewMusic?"

Re: Recording Line In, waveform visible, no playback
Did you bump the volume control to the left of the blue waves by accident? The microphone signal is probably one single mono track, but the guitar is probably two tracks, right? Two blue waves? Drag-Select a small portion of the guitar signal and Magnify Selected (Control-E). Do that a number of tim...

Re: Audio Interface
Can Windows see it in the Control Panels? Make sure to plug the unit in and then start Audacity.

Re: Recording Quality Problem
You could have two problems. The latest Windows versions have voice processing that you can and probably should turn off. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#enhancements And the other problem could be your new laptop has no convenient way to connect to an outside...

Re: Computer crashed and won't load the recent Audacity proj
Even though blue screens are a standing Windows joke, by WIn7, they're pretty rare. You need to have a very serious computer problem to get one. As above, Audacity can't cause a blue screen by itself, but it can touch other parts of the computer like the sound card which can. The main drive on a Win...

Re: Unable to transfer from audio recorder to computer
Thank you for giving us enough information to go on. You appear to have done everything exactly correctly. The Sony instructions have you in Windows Recorder rather than Audacity. https://us.en.kb.sony.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/30985/c/65,66/p/57784,60081,60201/ You might try that just to close th...

Re: only part of my music mix plays back
We need to find out if you created the mix inside the laptop with mixer software and an external controller, or you mixed in an external mixer and applied the final show to the laptop. Those are very different. If external mixer, is it USB or Analog?i recorded a vinyl mix to my laptop
