Re: Distortion Effect

It does what it says on the box. Is there an interaction between the wave result and DC Removal? Some of the levels of distortion have significant wave non-symmetry.

I used it with a mono guitar track. Does it work in stereo? Does it work if you're black and play the Star Spangled Banner?

Re: Tinny, hollow sound of Audacity files...

There is one more exotic thing to try. If the show sounds just fine in Audacity, do Tracks > Stereo Track to Mono. Now play it. Does it still sound normal, or does it sound like your CD? A mono version of a stereo show should just sound a little flat with no directional cues. It should not become ob...

Re: Tinny, hollow sound of Audacity files...

I use a Mac mini and a Technic LP player with a Pioneer receiver. Do you have the turntable connected to the "Phono-In" of the receiver? Did you connect the thin black third turntable wire to the receiver ground screw? It sounds like you connected to Tuner-In, Line-In, or Tape-In of the a...

Re: How to get Audacity to operate ?

The music on a Music CD is a pile of digital stuff and an index file to point to the songs. The CDA is the index file. It's not sound. You have to Rip a Music CD to individual songs to get them in a form for importing into Audacity. Even though the CD has sound in a perfect WAV quality, you still ha...

Re: Only one input of audio interface recognized

I think that was the device that appears as a mono digital signal in Audacity. When that happens, you may get a recording with only Left recording, but the show will appear as a mono track and will export like that as well. This is normal. When you played your recording, it came out of both speakers...

Leveler is a little wimpy. Try Effect > Hard Limiter. You can also try the effects more than once.

Re: Clipping without maximum audio level?

This may be a grand place to push our traditional UCA-202.

One good quality stereo input (and output).

Re: Clipping without maximum audio level?

The instructions have nothing to say about the level you apply to the connection or type of connection expected which does surprise me. It's like the design of the audio input was left up to the Zoom weekend night guy. There are ways to precondition a high level signal to make it appear like a micro...

Re: Clipping without maximum audio level?

The Mic-In / Line-In thing is not just that one is bigger than the other. Mic-In has a very special Microphone Preamplifier that boosts the microphone signal before the volume control can get to it . That little amplifier is what's actually overloading and why you can't stop it. Why on earth would y...
