If you have a reasonable computer, you can use an analog headset.

You may be able to use a USB headset as well, but that may not mix very well with game sound. Jury's out.

Re: Blue Yeti or Rode Podcaster?
As above, it's not the sensitivity of the microphone but the directionality and/or positioning. A good headset microphone is terrific because it automatically follows you around and is far closer to you than it is to the fan noise. Directional microphones are good here, too. If you get a good one, y...

Re: Recording 2 mics with a mixer vs. a USB audio interface
There is one consideration about the Peavey that's not immediately obvious. The analog Peavey with a UCA-202 gives you a way to perform "perfect overdubbing" by giving you a place to plug your headphones. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA202Lenovo.jpg I don't know that you c...

Re: Gradual desync introduced with long recordings
So how does one decoder manage to keep the original duration? It's broken. Oddly, this is a classic maintenance problem. I didn't recognize it until you did the exhaustive analysis. If you and your toolbox walk into a situation where fifteen of something have inexplicably failed and the sixteenth o...

Re: No Sound Out on Second Mic
So you get two blue waves and two bouncing red sound meters like this:

How are you listening? All the settings and cables.however, when I listen to recorded sound, only one Mic is heard, although both appear to be recording.

Re: How do I slow down the cursor when zoomed in?
1) Click once anywhere inside the red recording meters and they will go into monitor mode letting you hear the music. If that doesn't work, change an Audacity setting: Audacity > Preferences > Recording > [X] Playthrough. 2) Audacity doesn't have scrubbing like some other sound programs so you can't...

Re: plugin for podcasting/radio show sound effects?
That's one problem, another problem is recording your voice and recording sounds playing on the computer tend to be two different control panel settings, and they don't mix. Do you know somebody who's doing it this way? Koz

Re: Gradual desync introduced with long recordings
Maybe the errors ffmpeg reports while converting the mp4 into WAV are a clue to the cause here: So FFMpeg is complaining there is something seriously wrong. This is not a graceful conversion. Since this seems to be one unresolved spaghetti pathway after another, I want to back up a step. Where, exa...
