Point to the effect on an existing sound clip.

Re: Trouble removing background noise

When you pot down the two standing microphones in the choir loft, does the hum go away in the sound file? Does it go away with only one? Yes if you are just assisting, we really do need to chat with the audio type. If you do have damaged cables you might be letting yourself in for hours of extra wor...

Re: General improvements for voice acting?

I hear room in there. Overall, the clips are very clear (except for the overload point), and you can probably benefit from crispening up with the EQ offered, but you may do well to throw some soundproofing in. I can almost tell the size of room you're recording in. It's very subtle. It's a very deli...

Re: volume

I don't know that it's possible to lock those settings. The purpose of Audacity is to allow changes like that. Did you bump one of the tiny +/- volume sliders to the left of the tracks? They should all be in the middle unless you want them for an effect. That doesn't happen to thousands of people, b...

Re: Editing 192/24 files

Let's see if I remember this. Yes, set Audacity Project to the exact standard you wish to use. Then turn dithering off in: Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Quality. Audacity will still try to convert to 32-floating internally, but the conversion error both directions should be zero, particularly if y...

Re: I can't play any audio file that exported

Try exporting again but this time use a very plain, short filename as a test. No punctuation and no spaces. Use WAV, not MP3. Did that work?

Where are you trying to export to? Try forcing the export to your desktop instead of wherever Audacity wants to put it.

Your postings don't appear right away because the forum is moderated. We need to make sure you're not trying to sell me a way to make my manhood bigger. Or sell me kitchen cabinets in Manchester. I might need the kitchen cabinets. I have to ask you this. Did you shut down the machine, count to ten a...

Re: One day it just stopped opening

How are you opening it? Clicking on an AUP file, Go > Applications > Audacity, or from an icon in the dock?

Re: Exported MP3 sounds different than previewed in Audacity

Is it slower, too? Is the length of the show the same as in Audacity?
Are you listening to the show by importing the MP3 back into Audacity?

Do you know what a very low MP3 quality sounds like? When you exported the MP3, did you use the standard quality rate of 128?

Re: Recorded podcast - stuttering

To take this upside down, Audacity live recording or production is the test you do to see if your computer is running fast enough. If Audacity skips or stutters, it's not. You have the other classic symptom, too. "I've been doing this successfully for six months and now suddenly...." Your ...
