Re: General improvements for voice acting?
Remember to make the recording environment perfect before you start messing with the quality of sound. The Shure SM-58 is widely regarded as one of the better rock band vocal microphones. It has a dip at the low end to get rid of room rumble and handling noises, and a "haystack" peak start...

Re: Opening m4a files
Which "that?" Download fresh or point Audacity? Where did you put the FFMpeg software? It should be a folder with a long name. What is the name?

Re: Multi Track Recording Sync
That's hardware delay or latency and that can't be changed. You are listening to the various analog and digital conversions between the guitar and your ears. I'm surprised the Samson worked OK, but if you have a USB headset, that may be what saved you. You can play "blind" without listenin...

Re: Opening m4a files
You probably managed to delete separate FFMpeg software which is required to open and play M4A files. Or FFMpeg is still there and you have to tell Fresh Audacity where it is.

Try Effect > Compression with the default settings. After that: Chris's Compressor. http://theaudacitytopodcast.com/chriss-dynamic-compressor-plugin-for-audacity/ Chris designed a compressor so he could listen to Opera in the car. As a side benefit, it makes the performance louder and evens out the ...

Re: Removing (not reducing) Mouth Noises.
would it be ok if I upload a clip with some samples? Sure. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=72887 I would use 320 quality MP3 and send as much as you can. If it's a stereo track, reduce it to mono and get twice as much in the upload. You don't have anything technical wrong wit...

Re: Removing (not reducing) Mouth Noises.
All that did was muffle the sound a little and didn't do anything to help the mouth noises. Pop and blast filters are to get rid of this: http://www.kozco.com/tech/clips/PPopping.mp3 Oral tick noises in the show are indistinguishable from the normal performance. The only sure way to get rid of them ...

Re: Input and output devices shows blank
I have removed your email address. It's very dangerous to post an address on the forum. Win7 can hide sound devices. You should set your devices in the Windows Control Panels first, and then Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Devices. If all that happens correctly, the devices will appear in the record...
