Re: Audacity crashes every time a new UI is called

Do you have any Idea why it might be happening?
Not so far, no.

If you open Audacity and then File > New, you should get two Audacitys like this:

Re: Audio dropping out

Leave Activity monitor running in the corner when you have trouble. Don't try to launch it quick to catch something wrong. If running the Activity Monitor causes performance issues with your Mac, then you have very serious problems, probably beyond what I can do. You only have one drive right? That'...

Re: Help

My audio files are not playing.
If that still doesn't do it, you need to start filling in the holes. Where did you get these files?

I think it's still true that Windows will not play Mac AIFF files and Macs have no idea what to do with a Windows Media file.

Even File > Save Project? Save Project doesn't open any interfaces.

Re: Recording Audio

You should set your recording volume so the sound meters never go all the way up and the blue waves never go to 1.0 either up or down. Once you do that, you can apply filters and effects and export as any sound format file without distortion.

Re: Audio dropping out

Are you filling up your hard drive? The Spinning Beachball of Death happens when the Mac starts a process and allocates time for it, and then the process takes too much time to complete. This happens when the system starts becoming sloppy or there's something powerful running in the background. Desk...

Re: Need help with gaming commentary sync

Yes, gradually losing sync over a long time and losing it in chunks are very different. Also, analyzing the error is valuable. Does the sync always go out the same direction? I'm guessing yes, in which case it would be very valuable to record on a separate machine from the game -- unless the game ha...

Re: Adding VST Plug-Ins

Echo or reflections from the room or hall walls is very difficult to remove because there's no "hook" or identity of the offending echo. Since the echo is the performers voice arriving at the microphone multiple times, you are in effect asking the software to remove the performer from hims...

Re: Is Audacity for me

Scrubbing is a natural function of video editors because they are video frame-centric. They have natural, convenient time divisions to reference for hopping forward and back. Also in a video editor, if you pause in one place (and hold the mouse button), the editor repeatedly plays the audio associat...

Re: Total noob, with a deadline of next Thursday!

Some other other elves may want to take a crack at it, but I don't see pulling music out of that any time soon. Noise Removal is less magic than you think. When you capture the profile in the first step, Audacity remembers all the notes and tones and then later, when you apply the filter to the show...
