It seems too simple to do what the poster wants. What happens if the durations of the same song performed twice varies as it almost certainly will. How does it handle harmonics? If the poster gets a head cold, do all the numbers go off? Too close to the microphone and the readings to nuts?

Re: Reduce Ambuient noise
The response to this kind of project is normally "no." If the forum poster can't give me the transcript of what the performer said, the show is usually trash. As you noted, once the show is that bad, you can't perform the "profile selection" step and without that the tool is pret...

I would probably apply Effect > Low Pass Filter with 12dB and 750Hz. Experiment with those two numbers until you get something you like.

Re: Laptops amd mp3's
The UCA202 has talents way above just playing a tune into a line connection. In many instances, it's the only way to get stereo line-level into your computer. This may be the case for you if you have a modern Mac. It also allows "out of computer" monitoring of the sound in headphones witho...

Re: Calculating average voice pitch
Probably not by pushing a button a reading a number, no. You can use Analyze > Spectrum Analyze or Spectrogram in the left-hand drop-down, but please know that when you sing or play a note, there's a lot more going on than just one note. Do you remember in music class they threw around the terms &qu...

Re: Reduce Ambuient noise
The only way I know to do that in post production is with Effect > Noise Removal. It works in two steps: The first step is drag-select a portion of the show that's noise-only and no voices. Run the tool and press Get Noise Profile. Then select the rest of the show and run the tool again and this tim...

Did you try a different MP3 compatible player, like maybe the one in your car if it's new enough?it was incompatible with my DVD player.
Yours or another computer will play it, right?

Re: Laptops amd mp3's
Itunes runs on top of QuickTime Services and QuickTime comes with a "real" Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft MP3 license. This is the group that designed MP3. Anything you do after that is up to the hardware. The Headphone Out of a Mac is not terrible. I use mine for testing other audio equipment. I...
