Re: Editing one track of music out of a recording
Above that are the numbers - 0:00 to 47:00. The numbers are clickable. If you Play and then click anywhere in those numbers, the playback will immediately change to that point. If you Stop and click anywhere in the blue waves, the playback will start from that point every time until you change it. ...

Re: My recording is really bad due to microphone being too h
This is still ringing my alarm bells. It's extremely unusual for a simple microphone and computer arrangement to create massive overload like in the sample. The usual complaint is not getting enough loudness in the show, not too much. Some soundcards have special provision to boost sound up because ...

Re: buzzing sound when recording
We wrote a lot on recording. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_your_first_recording.html Sometimes, instead of plowing through all the variations, most of which won't apply to you, it's good to just make a poor recording and post it on the forum and we will analyze it and tell you how to...

Re: Waveform and Draw Tool?
The blue waves represent graphically the vibration of air when somebody sings or plays an instrument -- or a jet flies over. If you hold an empty styrofoam or paper coffee cup up to your mouth and yell into it, you can feel the vibrations of the cup on your hand. Those are the back and forth vibrati...

Re: Error Writing Autosave File
If you have a damaged Audacity, reinstalling may not fix it. Audacity leaves pieces of itself around to make upgrades easier. This is terrific until something goes wrong and you get "sticky problems" and "legacy damage." You should try resetting Audacity the official way. http://...

Re: Stuttering or gaps in my recording
Both Truncate Silence and changing the buffer are symptoms of the machine not being able to keep up. When you make a simple recording, the machine has to accept the sound, make it into bits and store it on the hard drive. When you record internet radio, it has to keep two different live audio stream...

Re: buzzing sound when recording
Could you be recording the MacBook's internal microphone instead of the Blue Yeti? Start a recording and scratch the top grill of the Blue Yeti and then scratch around the computer. My MacBook Pro internal microphone is just to the left of the left-hand Shift key. When you hit the hot one, Audacity ...
