Re: 2.0.3 Volume Changes on Launch
Unless you changed it, the computer thinks it's supposed to set itself up for communications or a conference. The "static" could be feedback through a delay loop and the gain change is the computer trying to automatically set volume. You didn't say what you're trying to do or what you're r...

Re: Not able to record properly from thin client
You were in trouble at a). Skips are a symptom of a system not running fast enough for live audio.
Audacity doesn't understand delays and will not run over a network.

Re: Import MP3 Podcast sounds like "outer space" 1950
It played too fast? Then it probably wasn't a real MP3 or was of a different file type. Install the FFMpeg software add-on and Audacity will be able to recognize many more different sound files than it does normally. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#ffdown . Re: Recording from cassette is muddy
We're not too good at CSI-type forensics. As you found, if the show is bad enough, we can't make it better, we can only make it different bad. Rain-in-the-trees hiss is particularly bad news. Anything that removes hiss also removes sibilance and "hissy" sounds from the human voice turning ...

This computer, for example, no matter what you click on, has no stereo input. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PCLaptopSound.jpg People wanting to record high level stereo are pointed to the UCA202 as a good quality, stereo USB adapter. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA202Lenovo...

Re: I need help finding the smallest portable audio recorder
Someone makes a live recorder in the size and shape of a pen. There was a powerful executive that claimed he recorded important meetings with his and one time he pushed the wrong button and it started to play back the conversation with its tiny speaker. I know no more than that. My Pearlcorder S701/...

Re: Audacity as an aid to Harmony Singers
It should be possible to double click the AUP Project Manager file and it will automatically launch Audacity with all the tracks and tools ready to go. Two clicks. -- Audacity Projects do not save UNDO. You can't launch a project and "step back" to an earlier place in your editing unless y...

least of my concerns. Actually, the most of your concerns is you can't plug anything into the Mic-In of your laptop except a microphone. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/computerAnalogMicrophone.jpg The connection is usually mono, not stereo and it's sensitive enough to pick up all the electrical...

Re: MIDI software
What kind of audio interface does the keyboard have and more importantly what provision does the computer have to accept audio? That's usually the hard part. MIDI doesn't manage audio. It just tells the keyboard when to push the key and which one. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA202L...
