Re: External usb sound card internal Conexant Lenovo G580
This is a picture of my Sony F-98 Dynamic microphone and a sound clip. I used the StarTech USB adapter mentioned before. It's noisier than you would want for a "broadcast" sound clip, but it does work very nicely. All I did to the clip was cut out the silences beginning and end. No other f...

Re: Syba USB stereo adapter does not record
The pink connection on your adapter is for a mono microphone, not a stereo line-in. Can you get a refund (I can't believe it was that much money). We recommend the Behringer UCA-202 for stereo devices (like the mixer in this illustration). http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA202Lenovo.jp...

Re: Locating a sound sequence within a sound file
Here's a radio show that uses music bumpers. They're frequently lower than the regular show. This example happens at 35. The full screen display of this show is 53 minutes and I have no trouble finding both bumpers by looking.

Re: Locating a sound sequence within a sound file
Is there a small silent gap between the two lectures? You may be able to use Analyze > Silence Finder. You do know some pieces of this. The gap is likely to be in the middle third of the file, right? Nobody is likely to stop talking five minutes into the show and break for lunch. I know of no patter...

Re: External usb sound card internal Conexant Lenovo G580
I know exactly what you mean - I started with a "portable" tape (1/4") that was the size of a small suitcase. When I started we had to use rocks for everything. Sometimes after a long interview we needed three people to get all the rocks back to the studio. Even in the Paleolithic, y...

Re: External usb sound card internal Conexant Lenovo G580
Uphill battle. Yes I eventually found the USB adapter as well, but never found the microphone. That's a problem. My StarTech similar USB adapter unit actually does quite well as long as you match the cables and connectors. The adapter has three electrical connections for the microphone. The tip of t...

Re: Recording with Dolby C
Now there are two possibilities One. Play the tapes on a Dolby player. There is no post processing Dolby that I know of and the Dolby people are alive and well (Dolby was used in analog stereo television broadcasting just before digital). They are fiercely protective of their technology. A -was 3-b...
Re: dc bias
if the offset is not constant over time In which case the problem is serious low frequency distortion or damage -- subaudible audio, not DC offset. Very different problems. In that case you may need both DC removal and the hi pass filter and then Chris. It's possible with that much damage you may g...

Re: uninstalling audacity
A quick note: You don't uninstall Audacity by uninstalling Audacity. It's a little more complicated than that.
