Re: Pre-cueing sounds in with recording.
Nobody is shocked that the USB sound is much better than the RCAs, particularly if you have a laptop and only a Mic-In connection. Those aren't usually stereo. So you're saying that you push the fader all the way to your unused deck to start it and the show can "hear" you cue it up? We ass...

Re: first-time user
All the options grayed out usually means you pressed Pause instead of Stop. Splitting an MP3 up into smaller files is usually better done in an MP3 editor like mp3splt, not Audacity. Audacity doesn't edit MP3. It converts the music to an internal format and then makes a new MP3 when you're done -- p...

Re: Overdub Troubleshooting
I know it's a standing joke, but if you start getting serious system errors, you should restart the machine from power off. Make it start over. If you continue to get these errors, inspect the drivers and soundcard software.

Re: Overdub Troubleshooting
Audacity has to achieve two different connections to Windows Services when you do overdubbing. It has to record from your "Microphone" and it has to play your existing tracks to your speakers/headphones. If either of those is fuzzy or messed up, Audacity will throw the Unable to connect......
Re: edit
Click on the blue waves under the 0.2 mark and drag until you get to 0.3? You can get increased accuracy by magnifying the waves like it looks like you did already. If you need surgical accuracy, you can use the Start and End windows at the bottom of the Audacity screen.

Re: Help nothing is working
If you're on headphones and not speakers, you can make Audacity fold back the recorded sound for you to listen. Audacity > Preferences > Recording > [X] Software Playthrough (select). When Audacity does it through the Mac services like this, it will probably be late (echoey) and not be useful. The o...

My studio is a small room in a quiet, secluded area adequately soundproofed. Should I apply those settings before or after I do the noise removal...or does it matter? Thanks, mate! If your studio sounds OK, what are you applying Noise Removal for? Noise Removal can create other problems and you pro...

Re: FFmpeg library is missing
Use a few more words. If the FFMpeg library was missing you would never have gotten the sound file into the machine. Are you saying you installed the FFMpeg libraries and then your new sound file started playing?

Re: How to make volume even all throughout track?
We warn people that the instant you start messing with compressors and volume enhancements, the background noise is going to come up. If you were just skating past acceptability because of "TV Next Door" noises, they will be a lot louder after processing. I wonder if this isn't their way t...
