Re: broken up audio during overdubbing
Chances are really good your computer doesn't have enough processing power and speed to do overdubbing. Overdubbing takes a computer that can keep a perfect recording session and an independent perfect playback up in the air at the exact same time. The software also has to manage delays and latency ...

Re: How to match same actor's voice but different microphone
So you should be looking to rent a Final Cut session if we can't do anything for you. The first reaction is no. We have no good tools to change the character of a human voice (and few other people do, either). But since the same talent did both, there's a chance. You should post 30 seconds or so of ...

Re: Tips on using Yeti Mic for recording podcast in Audacity
Cardioid (heart-shaped -- or in Europe "kidney-shaped") is the pattern you should probably start with, not for the quality of voice, but the pattern has reduced volume of echoes and sound arriving at the rear. This pattern has an odd problem called "proximity effect" where your l...

Re: Optimal podcast recording environment at home?
I first saw this very early when I couldn't post. Peek at this sound shoot. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/JMASoundShoot.jpg Ignore all but two things: The microphone on the right is embraced by a microphone isolator... http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MudGuard?utm_source=Google&ut...

Re: A Copy Of L.A.M.E.
how do you get the copy of L.A.M.E.? http://audacityteam.org/download/ The same place you got Audacity. You should get the lame that matches Audacity and not get it from some other supplier. I believe both lame and FFMpeg are available as stand-alone programs. You don't have to use the ones associa...

Re: Noise Removal w/o Quality Change (& Removing swallowing?
Who will be happy to explain it. May be an accidental split descriptor there. Natural sound is the dog barking in the background of your show during the recording. Theatrical sound is the jet taking off behind your voice which is inserted later because that's what was written in the script. Also see...

Re: Recovering a chrashed file from AU202
Could "about 12 hours" be 13 hours? Audacity will not continuously record over 13 hours.
I don't remember the recovery tools. Another elf will be along.
Sometimes the file system will "start over" and you'll only get the amount of sound after 13 hours.

Re: Noise Removal w/o Quality Change (& Removing swallowing?
Any tips on optimal use of noise removal and when not to use it? "No," and "Never." There's a standing line that by the time you realize you need noise removal, it's too late. Noise Removal is a patch job that in certain very limited circumstances can slightly improve the qualit...

Re: Audacity quits when trying to import mp3 files
I see several mentions of HIToolbox -- Human Interface Toolbox. That's a developer system and I don't know that it's intended for the casual user. What else is running on your machine? How many other applications are running and have their icon's ticked at the bottom of your desktop (or wherever you...
