Re: Audacity opens blank project file

Mac OSX 10.0.4
That's a super early version of Mac OS. As it says in the header, this forum is for Mac OS 10.4 and later. Are you running that on an Intel machine?

Re: Can Audacity Show Where a Clip Has Occurred?

...so that I can share a jpg? With law enforcement or your attorney? It's a forum policy to not get directly involved with legal actions or disputes. I use three zoom tools. Drag-Select a portion of the blue waves and zoom into it with Control-E. Control-3 zooms out a little bit and Control-F zooms...

Re: Record works sometimes, not others

Do you get the blue waves and bouncing red recording meters and you just can't hear it, or do you get a straight line and no bouncing meters? Does the cursor progress from left to right or does it freeze in one place? Do you get a message and if so, what? If you use other USB things like a Skype hea...

Re: broken up audio during overdubbing

Disk I/O is a part of it, too. Audacity has to read and write very quickly. Audacity will not work into a full or fragmented drive. It won't work into network services, either. It has to be a local drive. Computer speed problems kill people immediately in both audio and video. Live production is not...

Re: Possible to remove a loop from a song?

If the filters were perfect, then, sure, we could take anything out of anything. But they're not. There are techniques to remove and separate all kinds of things, but nobody would mistake the result as a desirable music performance. One problem is the main performance hitting the same notes by accid...

Re: losing quality when exporting

Going through Audacity has it's problems, too. Audacity adds dither to the show to compensate for its internal standards conversion. Audacity doesn't edit at 16-bit. It edits at 32-floating and has to convert in and out. It should not make any difference, but lame is a free knock-off of the real, pa...

You don't have RCA to RCA cables, do you? You have RCA to 1/4" cables.

Re: Desperately need help with Xenyx1204

Googling doesn't help because none of those examples have Skype connected. Just as you have it now (no UCA-200), your headphones are plugged into the mixer, right? When you play something on the computer you can hear it OK in the headphones, yes? I remember I tried this with different mixers a while...

Re: Desperately need help with Xenyx1204

That's notoriously hard to do, so if we do get it working, you have to promise to post back all your settings. Do you remember that you had both the USB mixer and the UCA200 plugged into different USB ports at the same time? Do you remember how you had Audacity Preferences Input and Output set? What...

Re: Can Audacity Show Where a Clip Has Occurred?

The only way to tell if an edit was performed is if the edit was done wrong. A bad edit may not always sound funny, but you can usually tell by inspecting the magnified waves where it is. The top wave in the link is an example of the worst possible edit and it was done on a simple musical tone, but ...
