Re: Increase the volume of a whispering voice
I have heard that "normalize" will also increase whats in the background or the lower sounds... Normalize and Amplify are cousins of each other. They both affect overall volume. They don't affect only quiet sounds. first you have to select an area with the background noise you wish to low...

Re: How to adjust left and right volume recording in stereo
How did you connect the cassette machine to the computer? You can't use the headset connection on the side of modern computers. Most times you need a formal stereo USB adapter or the USB services from a sound mixer. This is me recording the show from my analog stereo mixer. https://www.kozco.com/tec...

Re: Can't move help folder
I don't remember all the spells, but open up a text window or shell and execute commands as "Super User" rather than normal you. That's what sudo is. That's short for Super User DO. Execute something as a Super User. You can quickly run some programs like that rather than closing the compu...

Re: Can't move help folder
That's using the text-base commands instead of the graphic interface. You can do that on a Mac, too. Mine would look like this. That's my UM2 on the left.

I don't need the orange external drive or the coffee. Complete as it sits.

Re: Hardware setup suggestions.
You may be making this intentionally more complicated than it needs to be. If you have a good analog microphone, wired headphones, and a UM2, why do you need anything else? A UM2 will do bi-directional sound monitoring for overdubbing (select Direct Monitor).

Re: Can't select iMac speakers or headphone jack for output/playback
There is one oddity that's good to know. Plug everything together and let all the settings settle and only then start Audacity. Not the other way around.

Griffin makes a lot of different iMic variations and they don't all do stereo. Which one do you have?

Re: Beautiful voice needs to edit properly
Do you have a goal? "Make my voice pretty".....and then what? Are you singing? Do you want to announce for podcasts? Audiobooks? Voiceovers? Each one can be slightly different. Yes, it is a good microphone, but you also need a good, echo-free, quiet room to put it in. You shouldn't ignore ...

Re: connecting to my desktop
Another nasty caution. These tiny USB Audio Adapters or similar aren't stereo, either. Most of them are mono microphone and stereo headphones.
