Re: Tracks bleeding into new tracks
We installed hundreds of soundcards over the years and we did find one, I think Blaster, that was a complete waste of copper and fiberglass. It was a middle model between two other cards that seemed to work ok, but this one cause no end of troubles until I identified it and we did a company-wide swe...

Re: Tracks bleeding into new tracks
There are multiple versions of this same post and we have no idea where the bleed is coming from. I wonder if we do a survey it will turn out everybody's using one particular soundcard. Koz

Oh, yes. That's our bedsheet of text posting. It's rough to read, but if you get a good cup of coffee and crank through it, there's a lot of good information in it.

Re: Not Recognized
OK, you skipped a few steps in there.
The download seemed to work OK. You opened up Downloads and the disk image file (.dmg) was there. You dragged it onto your desktop and tried to double-click open it? What happens if you Control-Click it > Get INFO?

Which snaps us back to the idea that MP3 is a delivery format for your iPod, not work suitable for production. MP3 (and others) work by very cleverly hiding the damage. Post production pulls back the curtain. Koz

Re: Samson Meteor Mic Problem
I can see two possibilities. You have a broken mic or your have a broken USB connection. Is it a home run? Are you trying to go through a USB hub? Try it on another computer. You may not need all the software drivers. It should show up as a regular USB sound device. You may have to switch to mono. M...

Re: Samson Meteor Mic Problem
It's broken long before that. The picture is of your first spoken phrase. Note the tops are more or less level but the bottom has a very pronounced upwards tilt left to right. Can you try another USB connection? Does it do that only when you talk? If you plug it in and wait 15 seconds, is it complet...

Re: Which $60 Win XP/7 computer for new Voice Over actor?
There was a recent posting from someone doing game commentary. He had almost achieved recording nirvana. Good level, seemingly clear sound and almost no intelligibility. Like it's one of those TED talks where somebody is lecturing on how to freak out your ears. Background music, room echoes and very...

Re: audio levels w/headphones recording skype
If you click on the Audacity recording pull-down, what does it say you're recording from? I'm betting it's the built-in microphone which is why it vanishes if the speakers go away.

Re: Removing/smoothing a natrual voice crack/horse sound.
You are listening to what happens when you ignore all the rules of shooting a voice. The announcer is too far from the microphone, it's in a boomy echo-filled room, the honky, bubbly sound compression is on the moon too high, and all those problems make the theme music artifacts compete with the voi...
