Re: Stops saving to desktop after awhile

I do export with the same filename as the previous file I worked on sometimes. While it is intended that you can do that (which makes the failure a bug), it's not recommended. Traditional file systems lock a file while it's open and being used and for good reason. If the file remains open for writi...

Re: Cannot reveal "Stereo Mix" or "Line In"

This laptop has neither Stereo Line-In nor Stereo-Mix.

And it's pretty standard, so yes, the software solutions are the way to go.

Re: Vinyl Ripping To Digital Voice Recorder

Line or show output is intended to present the best possible performance to the audience. The headphone output is generally designed to be loud. Trying to mix in a busy booth is generally not a good time to worry about subtleties of music gradation -- unless you're mixing Vivaldi. If there is no boo...

Re: Tracks bleeding into new tracks

There is one piece we don't know. What, exactly is the microphone? You need a "computer microphone" to plug into the Mic-In jack and they typically don't have very long cords. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/computerAnalogMicrophone.jpg They tend not to be the kind where you can wander ...

Re: AIFF files will not play on iPod, will on iTunes

You can force iTunes to convert to mono. iTunes > Preferences > General > Import Settings: AIFF, Settings=Custom > Channels=Mono. I've never actually tried it. I found it valuable to destroy test recordings as I go to avoid crossing sound clips by accident. "Wait, was this the clip that failed ...

How much memory do you have?

Apple > About This Mac > about the fourth line. My machine says Memory 2GB 667 MHz DDR2

Many applications include your hard drive as part of the "memory."

Do you have the hard drive icon on your desktop? Control Click on it > Get INFO.

I cleaned my computer You should probably throw some words at that. You mean you vacuumed the dust bunnies out and checked the battery? You reinstalled the OS? What does Clean Out mean to you? Nothing springs to mind which is why you didn't get an instant reply, so we have to take it step at a time...

Re: Audacity will not load on MAC

You know the post doesn't make sense, right? You use it daily, but it's been gone for over a week. Did you install it for real, or are you trying to run it from inside the .dmg? Did you explode the .dmg file into files and folders and then drag the Audacity folder into applications? Did you read the...
