Re: Copy pasting and deleting instrumentals
Delete some instrumentals from what, exactly? If you shot your show using overdubbing, just select each instrument track and MUTE it using the MUTE buttons on the left of the track. Each instrument you do that to will vanish from your export and your live monitoring. If you're trying to do Vocal Iso...

Re: Can't export Mp3
Try exporting again using dead plain filenames. No punctuation marks at all. MyMusic.wav or MyMusic.mp3. Print dates like this:
MyMusic20130809.
Actually, dashes are "legal," so you could do it MyMusic2013-08-09.

You didn't mention the mixer. Yes, the Numark has a phono preamplifier built-in. Use one of these... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/RCAMiniStereo.jpg To get from the Stereo Line-Out of the Numark to the stereo Line-In of your MacBook Pro if it looks like mine (the circle with two black arrows), ...

Re: How much memory does Audacity take up?
Minimum System is not cutting an audio show or doing other sound work. Minimum System is having the machine barely run without falling apart. It's a benchmark number and if you design an actual computer like that, it will be a decorative pet, not a working horse. Audio (and video) stresses a compute...

Re: Distortion and drop-outs recording LPs
I stopped using Firefox on this machine because it was somehow causing profound instabilities. I never figured out what exactly was wrong, but the machine would hang when I was trying to watch a movie -- even locally -- and trying to play certain songs on-line. The machine would just go away. Its ey...

The thread is turning in quality literature instead of a short post, so yes. Bring up all the current test information when you post a change. We are hosting two other multiple chapter postings as well as many other one-off posts, so efficiency is good.

Re: Audacity Crashes When Trying to Export
Just because we've had problems with this, are you recycling filenames? Is each export a totally unique filename, or are you trying to save a new show on top of an old one?

Re: Distortion and drop-outs recording LPs
When was the last time you halted the Mac to a dead stop and restarted it -- twice? Stop it. Count to ten, restart it and go get coffee. When it's settled, do it again. I didn't used to think this made any difference, but I was watching the system analysis tools and the second start is very much cle...
