Re: Recording and playback
Make sure you have your USB devices plugged in before you start Audacity. Audacity > Preferences > Devices > Recording. So you see your device or maybe "USB Audio Device?" Audacity > Preferences > Quality: 44100, 16-bit. Audacity > Preferences > Devices: Stereo Those are the most generic s...

Re: High pitched noise on USB mic recordings
I know this isn't likely, but do you like to record things from the internet? The settings for that tend to mess up live recordings. Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Devices > Recording. Do you see your microphone there -- or something that reads like "USB Audio Device," Or possibly the nam...

Re: Help I think I lost 25 recordings
It's possible.
Go > Utilities > Disk Utilities > Select the System Disk > Verify Disk.
(Assuming that's the disk you used)
Can you make it through that? Don't authorize a repair.
If that's not the disk you used for capture, select the right one.

Re: Cannot record from CD in laptop CD/DVD device
FLAC being the gracefully and losslessly compressed format that fewer applications can read. This is good if you start running out of space and know your applications can read FLAC. MP3 and other aggressive compressors produce lovely, tiny files, but leave sound damage behind and restrict your abili...

Re: Help Recording With CDJ's & Saffire Pro DSP24
I'm guessing now. Did you match the Saffire sound settings in Audacity? It's not a stereo device. It's 8 channel and goodness only knows what the sound specifications are. You have the symptoms of trying to record a USB microphone, but picking stereo instead of mono by accident. Everything appears t...

Re: Acoustic Gig Recording Advise with Zoom H2
I can send main out to the mic inputs on the Zoom. You could but you shouldn't. The sound mixer should be connected to the Line-Inputs, not Mic-In. What best practices are there for getting good live recordings including post-processing with Audacity. You seem to be well on your way already. Post s...

Re: Cannot record from CD in laptop CD/DVD device
Oh, and thanks for the complete information on your system. You may get burned with the idea that in order to jam as much music as possible onto the disk, an Audio CD does not contain song information. So you may get a rip that reads song 1, song 2, song 3, etc. That's an example, I forget how it ac...

Re: Cannot record from CD in laptop CD/DVD device
Most of us who want to copy music from a disk we own do it with an Audio CD Ripping Program. You can get iTunes for Windows to do that, or you can use a stand-alone ripping program like CDEX. While the quality of the music on a CD is perfect WAV, 44100, 16-bit, Stereo, the structure of the files is ...
