Re: intensity level in dB
Or you can do it the way we used to do it. Display the noise on a bouncing sound meter and optically average out the bouncing with your eyes. "That's about -43 or so. What do you get?" http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_playback.jpg Obviously you need to make the meters jumbo to do t...

It's the 'behind you' part that kills. I don't know that there is a standard way to make sound do that.

Re: add Preference for Click Removal on import
Click Removal is not always a go-to-completion tool. If you mess it up, you could be called on to transfer the record again. Far better to do it in post where you only have to transfer the record once, IMHO.

Re: Beginner's Question
Recording internal audio is not a standard service like running the mouse or making the screen light up. Some computers don't do it at all. We would kill to be able to publish a simplified process to do this, but remember also it has to work on Mac, Linux, and Windows -- all versions (and we're volu...

Re: High pitched noise on USB mic recordings
This is really tiny stuff. Try two notch filters. Effect > Notch Filter: Freq: 278, Q:5 Freq:1007, Q:5 Or try one at a time and see if one whistle is worse than the other. These filers may affect the sound of the show. These two tones are present in really tiny amounts in the sample you sent. I do w...

Re: Input Volume Keeps Adjusting down...
Stereo Mix is an oddball mix of sound services that run the Record and Playback sides of the computer at the same time. One of the offshoots of that is the Audacity Record volume and the computer speaker volume may be the same thing. A very common complaint is: "My speakers are too loud when I'...

Re: High pitched noise on USB mic recordings
That's why you want to be really careful about your description of the problem. Gentle, rain-in-the-trees-hiss is perfectly normal for a microphone preamplifier. They all do it and the lower that number is, typically the more expensive the preamp.

Re: Acoustic Gig Recording Advise with Zoom H2
Correct me, but the XLRs on the mixer are line level and the XLRs on the Zoom are Mic-In, a mismatch of about a thousand or so. My H4 isn't to hand right this second, but doesn't it have a 1/8" Line-In on the bottom? Adapt that to the RCA or 1/4" connections on the mixer. You'll have to re...
