You should not be saving work to the same place that contains the Audacity program. That's dangerous. Save to your desktop or Music or Documents or someplace like that.
You have a volume named Audacity 2.0.3? A whole hard drive dedicated to your program?

Re: help with reducing background noise
It's OK. The forum is moderated and your post will not appear until one of the elves determines that you're not trying to sell us car insurance. You should be thinking about what you would do if the show is unrecoverable because it probably is. This isn't simple noise reduction. You are trying to re...

Re: how to record a phone interview in 2 tracks?
You have a SIP phone. There's no guarantee the person at the other end will have one. I know the spells for analog land-line and Skype, but not SIP. We have a corporate SIP service at work and the best we were able to do is set up a conference and record that, but that puts both parties in the same ...

We'll take the delay as a separate problem. Click on the right-hand edge of the volume meters and pull sideways so they get very big. Does your recording look like this, or do the red meters smash to the right and the blue waves fill the vertical space? http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_recor...

Re: recording level needs to be between -6db to 0db
It may be as simple as getting closer to the microphone. USB microphones such as yours can be a little weak in the moxie department. Make your Audacity meters larger by clicking on the right-hand edge and pulling sideways. The meters that come with the default Audacity are not big enough for you to ...

Re: What does having lots of edits in a project mean?
Editing is any change to the content in order to produce the final show. It's from the word editorial or editorialize. I don't think there is any practical limit to the changes you can make to a show. Add special effects, shorten a segment of dialog, make this portion louder, etc. etc.. I would make...

Re: My whole file gets corrupted
I save it a lot cause im always making changes. We recommend saving changes under new filenames. If all you do is continuously save "MyMusic" with no name change, then you only have one Project. If anything happens to the computer and that Project will not open, that may be the end of the...

Re: Exporting as MP3 but with 192 bit rate instead of 128
There used to be. It got people in a lot of trouble, so I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't do that any more. Let me see if I can remember the spells...(I sincerely wish there was an "Audacity Lite" program with just the most basic features for us who like a simpler version!)

Re: Exporting as MP3 but with 192 bit rate instead of 128
File > Export > MP3 Files > Options > Quality. You can go right around the metadata box if you want to by OKing it. You can set Audacity so that box never appears. The older Audacity programs forced you to dig in the System Preferences to set quality, but everybody moaned about that so much, they in...
