Re: Consenser USB mic not recording
By all means start Audacity last. Audacity checks its environment when it wakes up. One really common thing to do is to get the device and sampling rate (44100) right, but select stereo instead of mono. Single microphones are usually mono. Some computers "convert" a single microphone to st...

Re: Impossible to Record - massive white noise!
It sounds like feedback. Instead of the rock band at the local watering hole with the volume up too far... "How're Y'all Doin'eeeeeEEEEEEEEE!", You have digital feedback. It's not just white noise. There's some spikes and servings of other tones things in there, too. I'm not a Windows elf,...

Re: Audacity sound problem and Windows 8
Windows out of the box is intended to be a communications device, not general purpose computer. Enhanced Services is designed to suppress background noises during Skype or other conferencing. Any sustained musical note is seen as "air conditioning noise" and suppressed.

Re: No input devices - can't record
Whenever somebody complains they can't record anything, they usually mean they can't record YouTube sound or other on-line sources. Self Recording not a guaranteed service when you buy your computer and some newer computers come without it. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_recording_aud...

All of my machines have both Headphone-Out and Stereo Line-In. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MacLineIn.jpg When I do a live capture, it's pretty much an analog job at 48000/16-bit/Stereo given that I'm usually playing into a video edit suite. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/JMASoundS...

Re: No sound in headphones??
Logitech is not the most straightforward with their model numbers. As near as I can tell, their USB Desktop Microphone is called the"USB Desktop Microphone." Nobody's ever seen a part number. You can also tell Audacity to go out and look for connections right now with Transport > Rescan. Koz
