Re: Cleaning up background noise question...

A common problem with posts like this is the absence of goal. What's the goal, I mean the real goal?

Re: Cleaning up background noise question...

Not in the way you think, no. The only way to get rid of selected voices is if they appear by themselves. That is, person A stops talking briefly and person B starts talking, then you can drag-select the timeline for one of the two voices and silence it with Command-L. If they're both talking at the...

Re: Audacity 2.0.4 minimal source tarball rc1

I don't know if you were able to follow this thread...

But it seems to me a known bug that damages the Audacity high quality output is pretty serious.

Re: Audio problem?

Windows sometimes likes to capture the speaker feed when you plug in a USB microphone. It's a common problem. Everything should return to normal if you unplug the microphone and close Audacity. You can also go into the Windows Control Panels and put the speaker service back where it's supposed to be...

I'm not a Windows elf, but there is a write-up.

A couple of blocks down, you get to split up to the various operating systems.

Re: Audacity sound problem and Windows 8

"Mic Slider" is a stand-in for Recording Level wherever the sound comes from. Everybody knows what a microphone is, but what's the international symbol for a recording? Actually, I think there is one. It's that fan with the arrow pointing in. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/soundCar...

Re: Audacity wont record winn amp

Audacity will only record from one sound device at a time. If you have all analog equipment, you can tell Audacity to record from Stereo-Mix and get all the sounds on the sound card, but USB microphones don't use the sound card.

A note here about the BBC Peak Program Meter. It is intentionally designed to ignore occasional transient peaks. If you're worried about all peaks one at a time, maybe you should examine your goal.

Re: eq

Maybe if you always listened to the same type of music and successive ones were recorded a little off, but even then, you're going to run into two problems almost immediately. Hum from a bad amplifier and hiss from bad microphone preamps are both going to get a vote. 60Hz is power line, but it's als...

Re: Problem with opening sound device?

Audacity looks for sound devices when it starts. If you have a ratty USB connection, Audacity will forget about the device at each data interruption. If you want to try and chase it, Transport > Rescan...
