Re: Need Help Quickly
If you get good levels on the Audacity meters and good blue waves, then you are getting a good recording whether or not you can hear it from the Mac. Audacity > Preferences > Recording > Deselect everything but [X] Software Playthrough > OK. Go into monitoring again and both record and play meters s...

Re: Need Help Quickly
That's cutting it tight. Do you have good sound levels on the mixer? Most of the green lights on when you talk? If you have a bad balance between the near and far voices, that's a dance between the hybrid, the mixer, you and the instructions. You have the USB connection between the mixer and the Mac...

Re: There are no Mp3 export options
Audacity defaults to 128.
Early versions of Audacity had the MP3 options under Preferences rather than Export > Options.

Re: how to save as a mp3 file
You noticed that File > Export does not have provision for producing an MP3 sound file. Audacity can read them, but you can't make new ones. You should install the Lame software to your Audacity and MP3 Export will start working. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.htm...

Re: Computer Crashes
Do you know what the previous version was? The latest update to Audacity is 2.0.4 and that's the one you would have gotten if you pulled down a fresh one. When you uninstalled the old one, did you do it from the Control Panel, of did you delete files? Audacity can be sticky and leave pieces of itsel...

For the purpose of monitoring, yes. The signal from the computer to the Microphone Monitor System doesn't enter the show.microphone will then be receiving sound from the computer

Re: ? Showing for Audacity
Are you trying to run Audacity from the .dmg file? Go > Applications > Audacity Does your listing look like the illustration? You may be missing FFMpeg and Lame, those are two add-ons, and your files may not say ".app." I told the Finder to show me everything. If so, drag your dock icon to...

Re: Noise, only when in Record, or when meter is active
Audacity traditionally has no power to change the sound of a performance while it's recording. Thousands of people want that, but so far, no. Audacity will capture whatever the computer supplies however messy it is. If Audacity just can't make it work, you may get the famous "Error while openin...

Re: Noise, only when in Record, or when meter is active
How much distance is there between the mic and the computer? Can you move the microphone around at all? Computers are noisy beasts both electrically and with sound. Just shift it around a couple of inches while it's recording and see if the noise changes. Does the microphone have a home run to the c...

Re: How to find "track marks" in audio file
You can add a track mark only to files recorded using the IC recorder. In other words, it's the Sony proprietary format to keep you using Sony products. There's nothing in that sound file but dead silence. My guess is Sony burned a non-standard meta-data format into the file. Sony regards technical...
