Re: Need Help Quickly

There is something seriously wrong with that setup. I use USB sound with three different Macs all the time. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/olympus_TP7.jpg Were you able to amplify the low volume show into something you could use? I can't play with you in detail just now. I'm supposed to be somew...

Re: Volume Levelled on 50 MP3 files

Audacity is not a good candidate for this because Audacity makes a new MP3 at the end of the process and the compression distortion goes up.

Re: Error opening project

You're using awkward words there so let me play this again. You created a sound show in Audacity and Saved it as an Audacity Project. This is a pretty safe bet because Audacity will not save a sound file. When you did that, you got two things: you got an AUP file and an _DATA folder, like this: HiNR...

Re: Using Audacity to limit dynamic range of Garage Band fil

Somebody else posted almost a word-for-word message not that long ago. I saw your life flashing before my eyes. My file was somewhat outside of that range. Did they say which way off you were? Can you find out? That's not inconsequential. It would be good if we don't have to tell you how to fix The ...

Re: Absoluts beginner - non-musical help.

As in another very recent post, Audacity is a general audio production program, so yes, staring at it the first time can be a little scary.

How are you planning to get the sound of the exhaust into the computer? Audacity can be dark gray magic, but microphones can be seriously black.

Re: Can't access my saved recording and mp3 blank

Did you have the blue waves and bouncing red recording meter while you were making the recording? http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_record.jpg If you saved an Audacity Project, then that will only open up in Audacity. Audacity Projects are not sound files and Audacity will not save a sound fi...

Re: Monitor level is distorted but no clipping.

I am plugged into the line in on my computer. Are you sure? This is the exact place people get into trouble. Most Windows Laptops don't have a real Stereo Line-In. You are monitoring into headphones, but where are the headphones plugged in? It sounds OK on the mixer, right? Can you make the bouncin...

Re: Need Help Quickly

What you were supposed to do is make a "Mix-Minus" from your mixer and send that down the line instead of the whole show. This mixer has a Pre-Fade bus (AUX-1). Make up the cables to send that down the phone line. This does two very nice things. It prevents the guest from hearing their own...

Re: Need Help Quickly

Do you have most of the green lights on the mixer when you perform? I'm betting not. That means you have the Hybrid wired wrong and you're sending the mixer show down the phone line instead of one of the AUX busses. Anyway past all that, some Windows machines give you the ability to adjust USB sound...

Re: uniform volume level

You should try Chris's Compressor. http://theaudacitytopodcast.com/chriss-dynamic-compressor-plugin-for-audacity/ Chris can simulate the compressors at the radio station. Ever notice you don't have to change the volume control in the car very much when you listen to the radio? That's the station's c...
