Re: Aligning time bar with actual recording time stamp?
While you can't prevent the timeline Time from starting at zero, you can make that time be midnight. Create a new 12-hour long silent show on the timeline. Import your show and then use the Time Shift Tool button (two sideways black arrows) to shove your show into alignment. If you know, for example...

Re: Monstrous sound effects
I can tell you right away they didn't do a straight Pitch Shift because I can still understand the sibilants in the speech -- SSS and FFFF. Those go first making the speech trash. But I agree, this is the same technique used on that Geico commercial. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YR_Bjf-a5rs Effect...
Re: drivers
I don't think that's a driver problem. I'm not a Unix elf, but that almost always happens when you record Everything Your Computer Is Playing rather than a specific sound device. The setups for personal recording and overdubbing are different from recording internet audio. I have no idea how to set ...

Re: 44kHZ 77 minute audio ends up 827MB; so cant fit on CD!
You should be able to ignore the data size for a Music CD. The restriction on those is strictly time. What happens if you make your playlist and try to burn a CD? The music on a Music CD is smaller than you think because even though the quality is perfect (no compression) Music CDs do not have a ful...

Re: how to: save point in time, go to new point, select betw
If you're used to video edit points, Audacity doesn't have those. But we do have labels. When you get to the first point, set a label there with Command-B. Then go to your second point and set another label. The labels are sticky or magnetic when when you click-drag close enough, the labels will cap...

Re: Multiple Aud Files
Audacity does not save sound files. You are probably looking at the little fragments of an Audacity Project. Don't move them or do anything else. Double Click on the aup file and the cassette capture show should come back to the Audacity timeline. Then you can break up the work into 3-minute (or so)...

Re: Recording with Zoom H1
I assume Windows. My H4 has the ability to manage four sound channels or two. You should be using two if you have the option. Also, Audacity needs to be set to Stereo in Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Devices: Stereo. Does the Zoom appear in that device list? My H4 has the ability to mount the inte...

Re: Loss of stereo and underwater distortion
We'll take the underwater sound first. You're probably running into Windows Enhanced Services (Conferencing Echo Cancellation) You can turn that off. This service is environment and show dependent. If your show contains mostly voices, you may not notice it at all. It will destroy music. http://manua...

Re: i want to record one-sided at a time
Record or import the show as stereo so the work appears on both left and right at the same time (One above the other). Then use the little black arrow on the left of the track to Split Stereo Track. Use the Time Shift Tool (buttons on the top, two sideways black arrows), click on the bottom track an...

Re: Need Help Quickly
You need to start responding to some of these suggestions. Were you able to get a working show by amplifying what you did get? I'm guessing no because I don't think you're recording your USB mixer. Close Audacity, leave the mixer plugged in. Forget the Hybrid for a minute. Open a microphone. From th...
