Re: Noise gate time limit?
I believe the way this was done requires that Noise Gate keep your whole show in memory during the operation. So it's a machine limit, as far as I know. Koz

Re: Really basic editing question
If the new section is "highlighted," then File > Export Selection > MP3 [options]. Two problems: Making an MP3 from another MP3 will double the compression distortion, so if the original music was right on the edge of honking and bubbling, the new file may be unusable. You can get around t...

Re: Extracting a ring tone from a noisy audio file?
I think we can isolate the children, but the ring tone is hopeless.
I can't believe you can't find that on the internet and download a clean copy.
Anybody with a musical keyboard should be able to crank that out, too.

Re: Can I Determine Sample Format of Existing .aup file?
Yes, that's the "wish" value and has nothing to do with the original show. Audacity doesn't "do" Clip INFO. Audacity converts anything incoming to it's own internal format and then converts again on the way out. This is what makes it such a terrible MP3 editor.

Re: solution for microphone sound distortion
In the illustration, Wynonna is wearing sealed headphones and listening to herself. That's so she can judge her own volume and it helps prevent wild sound variations in the studio. If you have a USB microphone without a headphone connection, you may not be able to do that because the headphone conne...

Chris's Compressor will even out volume variations in a performance. It's the software equivalent of the broadcast compressor.

Re: Apply fxs 2 make podcast sound as good as possible (podc
If I listen on my laptop speakers, it sounds OK and you're done, but if I listen on headphones or a very good quality sound system, you still have a little science fiction "martian voice" as a holdover from doing all those corrections. You are trying to simulate in software having a very g...

Re: How to copy right channel to the left channel?
Use the tools under the little black arrow to the left of the timeline. Split Stereo Track. [X] the damaged track. Select the remaining track by clicking just above the MUTE button. Edit > Duplicate Make Stereo Track This will give you a two-track mono show, not strictly stereo, but it will put some...

Re: solution for microphone sound distortion
You cannot recover from microphone overload in post production. Microphones have a limited ability to transform voices into signals and if the voice is too loud, the signal will be permanently damaged. Turn on View > Show Clipping. If your show is a forest of red lines, then there is no recovery. Th...
