Re: Need Help to Record from Home Telephone to PC

That link points to my post where I tell you how I got the Olympus microphone to work (second post). I use that regularly and it's pretty much set and forget. If you remember not to talk over or interrupt the guest, you can put the show together later. I use it for note-taking, but there's no reason...

Re: need some basics

Here's a sample. I pretty much can't tell you how I got here other than poking at buttons. I know there's a magic ingredient.

More when I get a minute.

Re: need some basics

Try this. Isolate a minute or so sample of the show with the echo or full sound prominent. Select the whole thing and use that for the Noise Reduction Profile > OK. Then open the tool again and apply it to the same sound clip. Under certain conditions, you can get a reduction in "hollow room&qu...

Re: Is it possible to record audio from computer & microphon

We got this nailed in Windows, but Macs are a little harder. I think WireTap will allow you to route multiple sound channels and run Skype at the same time. https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/12272/wiretap-anywhere Read through that and see if it does enough things for you. I tried to do it in hardwa...

Re: My Audacity is recording room sounds and not from casset

People who complain about recording the dog barking in addition to their show are almost always recording the laptop microphone and not the turntable, cassette machine or other device. Set this in: Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Devices > Recording. Some devices appear as "USB Audio Device,&qu...

Re: Getting rid of background music

You'll need to get that sound from someplace "clean." We can't split two different shows from each other. Number four. Don't do any of the other three, either. The Four Horsemen of Audio Recording (reliable, time-tested ways to kill your show) -- 1. Echoes and room reverberation (Don't rec...

Re: Recording issue

I have recorded a session
What kind of session? Live microphone? Playing the guitar? Recording a cassette tape?

Each one has their own errors.

Re: Is it possible to upgrade GoPro audio using Audacity

Compressing sound creates some quality damage. They all do it, AAC, M4A, MP3. The problem comes when you do some production and then make a new compressed file. The new file will contain the compression damage of the first file plus all the new junk. Two 128 in succession has about the quality of on...
