Try it again and don't use any punctuation marks in the filename. Slash marks are particularly troublesome. No dates. Today is not 9/30/13. It's 2013-09-30. Dashes and Underlines are OK.

Re: Audible.com QC standards
OK. I got it. This is a hefty, unprocessed, 16 minute download of a spoken word radio show. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/1339Before.flac The levels are low and the expression is all over the map. This is the same thing after Chris's Compressor. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/13...

Re: Audible.com QC standards
I'm getting ready to record my first audiobook and I must admit I am still flummoxed by this topic. Measuring sound is almost as black an art as anything else having to do with sound. I think, I'm afraid, that everyone is going to want us to generate a button that you push that makes your work ACS ...

Re: Automatic sampling rate conversion lost in 2.04
I set my Audacity Preferences for 44100 and made a tone. Then I imported another tone that I made at 48000. The project sample rate of 44100 stays constant (lower left of the Audacity Window) and both tones play correctly. That's not what happens to you? If I only import the 48000 file, then the pro...

Re: Having Trouble Opening Media
With reference to the numbers on the left, 22050 is not a "normal" sample rate. It's a special rate used by some sound recorders.
Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Quality > Sampling > 44100, 16-bit > OK.
See if your MP3 file opens now.

Re: Help on removing "sizzle" sound from file.
You got lucky that you were operating on a clip that's not recognizable by anybody but a motor jockey. That repair would be a lot less successful on a music or voice track. Motor sounds are rough to do. They can get loud enough to overload microphones and most sound mixers, processors, and recorders...

Sometimes you can do a world of good just by making Windows rengotiate its hardware.I presume that you tried rebooting the computer?

Re: Crackles
Fragmented hard drives are killer. Audacity has to play the violin part from here on the drive, the tambourine from over there and it has to record the new trumpet part wherever it can find room. Oh, and do it all at exactly the same time. Simply too much stuff on the drive can cause Windows to free...

Re: Help on removing "sizzle" sound from file.
Badwin is too loud. The blue waves cannot fill the timeline space top to bottom, and if you look at the green sound meter, it's smashed all the way to the right and has the red overload indicators lighted. This has to be reshot. You can't recover from overload this bad. Number 2. The Four Horsemen o...

Re: Loudness Variation Between Songs Problem
I stand corrected. Sound Check is intended to solve the problem of variations between songs or clips, not within the performance. Since all my performances are completely erratic, I can't tell if Sound Check is working or not. It might even make the presentations worse. Koz
