Re: Misleading behavior of Make Stereo Track

You could also have left your two original mono tracks alone and File Export. Audacity will mix down to one mono track. Both shows will appear on left and right in stereo systems.

Re: Misleading behavior of Make Stereo Track

I have two mono tracks that I want to merge in one stereo track. Probably not. You have two mono tracks you want to mix down to two-track mono. That's different. Select the whole thing by double clicking anywhere in the blue waves and... Tracks > Stereo Track to Mono. That will mix the left and rig...

Re: Dramatically reducing file size of a WAV for an online g

We are waiting for the Poster and the Client to provide a sample file.
I will put many free cups of coffee that either it's not a WAV, or there's something else very, very different about it. On the face of it, this job is impossible.

Re: Issues recording from mixer to laptop using mic port

Thank you for the complete information. The FFMpeg libraries have to do with advanced sound formats, techniques and files. That may be broken, but that's not your problem. I suspect your friend changed the Audacity recording settings in order to record YouTube or some other internet sound. Yes, that...

Re: no real bass sound when recording

You may need to turn off Windows Enhance Services. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#enhancements If that didn't help, your new computer may not have a stereo Line-In. Newer Windows laptops don't. If your only connections are Mic-In and Headphone-Out... http://w...

Re: Sound recording, Windows 8, Audacity 2.0.3

You not only have to select Stereo-Mix, but you have to control which sound goes into the mix. I'm not a Windows elf, but we did write this up.

Re: more like a mic help

Try this. Scratch the microphone with your fingernail while you're recording. Then scratch around your laptop -- around the keyboard and around the screen and see if the scratching sound doesn't get a lot louder. This microphone is an aggressive end-fire design. You should be talking directly into t...

Re: Multitrack recording with Yeti - setting up latency

If that's the number, then you add or subtract that number from the latency setting you started with. If you do all those tasks properly, the latency setting should drop to very close to zero. This is that first illustration with the correction applied. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/latencyAfte...

Re: Dramatically reducing file size of a WAV for an online g

I'm genuinely mystified! I'm not. I've had people give me an "MP3 Wave file." People get this stuff turned around all the time, and while it is remotely possible that someone in the gaming community has developed an earth-shaking new technology, those don't come around very often, and whe...

Re: Missing mp3 files after closing Audacity

The down side of this problem is you seem to be doing everything right. If you were doing something silly we would just tell you to change a setting, but you stumped the band. Critically inspecting the drive is in order as is running the stand-alone Microsoft Virus Check and then the exhaustive mode...
