Re: Issues recording from mixer to laptop using mic port

If you're short of bux (and who isn't) and your current shows sound OK to you and the clients, then you may not need anything further. Some laptops put up with high power sound from a mixer and some don't. That external interface thing is our automatic recommendation to people who have your configur...

Re: File too big for 80 minute CDR

One more. Include the silences you put into the show as part of the time limit. Don't just add up the song durations.

Re: File too big for 80 minute CDR

Ignore the filesize completely. It's irrelevant. Your Audio CD Authoring Program will format the sound in minutes -- only. We call the limit 78 minutes. Some software can hit 79, but nobody can do 80. I had a "magic event" recently when my clearly correct music would not fit on an Audio CD...

Re: Noise removal doesn't respond

Either select the portion of the show you want to reduce, or select the whole show for the second pass. You should describe what you're trying to achieve. Noise Removal never does what anybody wants it to. It has a really good track record on that. Plus, it's a two-pass tool and that loses many peop...

Re: Start up

Also the instructions say to select "Software Play through .." but after upgrading this option no longer appears. Software Playthrough and Hardware Playthrough appear on Macs. The Windows version only has "Playthrough." When Playthrough is selected it allows Audacity to record t...

Re: Sound not working on ENTIRE computer after opening Audac

The DMG is the abbreviation for "Disk Image." It's the tight, tidy package that contains all the pieces needed to make a proper Audacity installation. Unfortunately, Audacity will try to run directly from the image if you tell it to. Without the installation step, Audacity does not fully &...

Re: Presonus AudioBox USB 2x2 or TASCAM US-200

If there's no hits by now, then no. Google: [TASCAM US-200 Complaints] -- Hit #1 -- "I bought the Tascam US-200 and it caught fire the second day I had it and burned my entire neighborhood down. The smoke caused an EPA Alert, three miscarriages and notified the National Guard. I would not recom...

Re: Exporting Files

If you're trying to move Audacity Projects, you have to be careful to move the AUP file and the _DATA folder of the same name together. They have to appear in the same folder or directory to open a show. MySymphony.aup MySymphony_data The AUP file isn't a music file. It's a list of instructions how ...

Re: Can edit and listen to music but not record?

Audacity is calling for sound specifications that your sound device can't deliver. Are you using the pink Mic-In in the side of your machine? http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PCLaptopSound.jpg Are you using it for an actual microphone like this.. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/computerAnal...
