Try it with CD-R. You're doing two wonky things. Windows Media is not a great gift to authoring and you're using CD-RW which may also create problems. Together they may never work.

Re: Getting Started
It's not unusual for you to be on a laptop with no Stereo Line-In like the desktop machines have, so some of that solution above may not work for you. Connecting the turntable is a big deal depending on what you have. Pretend you're telling us how to buy the same things you have. Web site references...

Re: "Error While Opening Sound Device" - Rode Podcaster
It looks like a nice microphone. one of the bright sides of USB was supposed to be plug and play. It does. The microphone hasn't failed, it's just being stolen by other applications and processes. Nowhere is it written that Windows is always going to get the sound and USB routing right all the time....

Re: playback latency
we know what the cause is ... the FocusRite Saffire 14. Then return it. I don't think there's anybody on the forum that has one and if we haven't hit something by now, there may be no good solution. You violated the decision making process. Start with the show design and goals and then go on to buy...

Re: File too big for 80 minute CDR
Invest in at least one or two CD-R disks. That's the type recommended for Audio CD applications. Sometimes CD-RW can be used but the process isn't optimal and sometimes it just doesn't work.

Re: Importion Audio from LiveScribe wifi pen to Audactiy
If you can create any common sound format, we can import those with the addition of the FFMpeg software. Doesn't have to be WAV, although that's the format likely to create the least problems. This should be the one for Macs: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#ff...

Re: pops and crackles yes I know but...
Too true, but we're not talking about two exactly identical test sounds. We're talking about guitar, drums, bass, rhythm, etc. etc. etc. Chances of any of them lining up to create overload is pretty slim. Plus, a 12dB reduction in the volume of the piece is going to be noticed in the performance by ...

Re: pops and crackles yes I know but...
This is going to be a problem when you export the show to "something:" Music Player, Music CD, Internet Posting, etc. etc. They are all going to overload way worse than Audacity and you are going to have to dance to keep your musical mix and still have clear sound.

Re: pops and crackles yes I know but...
You missed one. When Audacity plays all your tracks it just adds 'em up. It's a simple arithmetic process. No effort is given to keep the addition from causing overload distortion. Click just above the MUTE button on all your tracks with the Shift key pushed to select them all (there may be a faster...
