Re: how do i record fom my ipod to a file on my desktop
Click on the song in the iTunes listing and drag it to the desktop. Then you can open it in Audacity if you want, either by dragging or Control-Click > Open With > Audacity. If the music will not drag, then it's copy protected and you need to go through the Audio CD exercise. Let us know. Koz

Re: playback latency
We truly have no idea why it's behaving like that and no good way to find out. Audacity is a complete slave to the computer and equipment surrounding it. I'm going to send Guitar Center a Get Well card. I attended a tiny voice and music performance at a bookstore in Pasadena a month or so ago. I kno...

Re: Crackling audio playback - multiple formats and volume l
Can we assume it doesn't crackle in the same place every time? Does it continue to crackle if you pause the playback? This is a playback issue.
Is there any reaction if you use the Speed Playback slider.
I know what the goal is, but can you make it worse?

Re: Yet Another, No sound when recording
A quick word. You can make a recording without listening to it. If you get blue waves and bouncing red meters, then you are getting a show whether or not you can hear it. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_record.jpg So if you're scrambling playback and recording services at the same time duri...

Re: Crash Issues
Wait. I know this one. Audacity > Preferences > Effects: [_] De-select everything. How much on-board memory do you have? Did you put the memory in yourself? You can get problems like this if you have a ratty memory stick. There is a Mac memory checker and any second I'm going to remember where it is...

Re: Crash Issues
Audacity is a pretty simple program and likes running on simple computers. Many of the tools that Audacity uses demand that they be held up in the air in memory while they're running. If you're starved for memory because you're trying to edit a 6-hour HiDef video show at the same time, then that's g...

Chris's Compressor. http://theaudacitytopodcast.com/chriss-dynamic-compressor-plugin-for-audacity/ Start with the Compression default (top value) of 0.5, but if you want the show to be louder and denser, crank it up. I use 0.77 for some of my work. You can go higher. This also has the advantage of l...

Re: Unable to record or playback on USB
Win7 has a few more hoops to jump through to get routing right. Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Devices This is where I run out of steam since I'm not a Windows elf, but if you're using your built-in soundcard, then Audacity should be pointed to that, both recording and playback. This depends on the...

Re: remove hiss noise help
Oh man, what happened? The beginning of "Sister Sister" was perfect: theme music, stingers, intros, background and links. And then overload and mushy voice city. What was the difference between the two? Different mics? I still want to know if that was a Skype session. It doesn't sound like...
