Audacity will play to whatever you point it to in the Preferences.
Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Devices > Playback.

You can tell us everything it told you.A box pops up saying it cannot open the file and then lists the file location.

Even Audacity can't make a show out of zero bytes. Can you make it fail again? There is a limit to how many times you can record over a flash card. Broadcast AM isn't the only amplitude modulation possible. You can create normal AM the conventional way and then surgically suck the carrier out creating double sideband, suppressed carrier which is how the stereo information is carried in FM Stereo.
