Re: Exporting audio

Are you running Audacity from inside the .dmg file? You need to actually install Audacity. Double click on the .dmg file and read the text file.

Re: Exporting audio

The Mac version has this unfortunate attraction for exporting work to the Application folder. Export it to anywhere else -- like the Desktop or Documents or Music. You need to know that AIFF files are terrific around Macs, but if you ever find the need to share perfect quality music files with anybo...

Re: Wierd Noise

You can get a robotic, honky, tinkly sound if you apply Noise Removal wrong. Noise Removal is always a toss-up between cleaning a show and causing more damage. Always use the smallest possible Reduction (first) value. Sneak up on the correct value. Don't automatically assume removing everything with...

Re: Changing the Tone of a song

We can't make you into a radio announcer or an opera singer unless you started out like that. Effect > Change Pitch only works for maybe one or two piano notes either direction and sometimes not even then. A high voice isn't all high. Sibilants, plosives, mouth noises and other parts of speech don't...

Re: Can I create an Lt-Rt mixdown in Audacity?

For proper Dolby decoding you must put certain channels out of phase so the decoder can extract proper L-R-C-Ls-Rs from a 2-chan source.
See, your original posting said nothing about creating a Dolby Encoded stereo signal.

It throws us when you do that.

Re: Normalize dosen't work for me

Normalize is probably misnamed. People want it to make everything "normal" and that's not what it does. Normalize and its cousin Amplify are arithmetic tools. They have no idea what music or voices are. All they do is pick the one highest peak of sound in the show you selected and changes ...

Re: Muting Speakers on my computer whilst recording

my headphones don't mute the speakers Some machines use a software switch to sense when headphones have been plugged in and do the switching that way. Most Windows machines use a straight mechanical switch which may fail if you don't push the headphone plug in far enough, you're plugging into the w...

Re: Help with Beats Per Measure

Which is a round-about way of asking for a BPM tool. Audacity doesn't have a BPM tool. You can use a calculator and a stopwatch or a calculator app and a stopwatch app.

Re: Can I create an Lt-Rt mixdown in Audacity?

It's not a pushbutton. You have to produce it. Each of the channels takes separate actions in order to end up with a pleasing stereo show. You can generally leave FrontLeft and FrontRight alone with maybe a little of the two surround tracks mixed in depending on whether or not they carry any of the ...
