Re: need help with lecture recording

I tried to record my lecture So it's not your lecture. It's the lecture you attended. Is that the raw recording -- the recording from the lecture, or is it the lecture after you applied Noise Reduction? What were you using to record the lecture? It sounds like you could be using a recorder that's t...

Re: Need help getting rid of large noise spikes.

You didn't say so, but you are now recording your guitar direct from a cable rather than a microphone. Most guitar sounds are half-and-half guitar and speaker cabinet. The guitar by itself tends to sound flat and cheap. You're also missing the cabinet special effects if you use any of those. So yes,...

Re: Easy way for Audacity to use ASIO?

I read that Audacity does not support ASIO out of the box.
Correct.

Re: 2.0.4 recorded stereo mix and mic split audio

I believe that's selected in the Windows Sound Control Panels. That's not an Audacity setting.

Re: Need help exporting.

While Audacity and many other applications can open up and play MP3 files, making new ones requires special software.

You need to download and install the "Lame" MP3 software.

You didn't say if the show was high quality stereo. If it's not, none of these tools except magnify and amplify work. Koz

Re: Thoroughly confused-please help!

My issue is that I have several tracks of music and talking. That suggests you have tracks with music and tracks with voice and they're out of balance. That's a snap to fix with several Audacity tools. I suspect what you really have is at least one track with both voice and music mixed in it. There...

Re: Which PCs allow recording sound from soundcard?

Desktops are much more likely to have one of these: http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/soundCardFinal2.jpg A soundcard with Stereo Line-In and Stereo Line-Out -- more or less directly compatible with each other. That makes the hardware/analog desperation method a bit easier, but that's no guaran...

Re: Scarlett 2i2 question

We did have a posting from someone where the unit didn't work out well. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=75206 But we think it was his system or his computer. There's no reason it shouldn't work. It's a pretty simple but complete interface. There's a problem with asking us for ...

Re: Need help getting rid of large noise spikes.

Are you connected through a USB hub? Audio doesn't much like doing that. The non-audio connections interrupt the sound and it appears pretty much like what you have. Audio equipment needs to be computer home runs.
