Re: need help with lecture recording

But that will only make the sound muffled or AM Radio (5 KHz). There's compression artifacts in there, too. Bubbling, Honking. So that's not the only thing wrong.

Re: Is there a way to do quick retakes?

Different button. Many of us set a label (Control-B, maybe?) so we can find it later and then just keep rolling. It helps to keep the theatrical rhythm going. If you insist on stopping to collect your thoughts, press "P" to pause the recording. If you press Stop by accident, you can resume...

Re: choosing a small mixer

I don't have a sample of this recording session, but I made several successful voice recordings with furniture moving pads. http://www.kozco.com/pictures/boothFinished/laptop-mic.jpg http://kozco.com/pix/oneWallKit.jpg http://kozco.com/pix/partiallyConstructedWall.jpg The natural urge is to blow big...

Re: greatdy

It's not the greatest gift ever, but it works remarkably well and it's cheap. I have two, the company has at least five. A very few people have posted back that they had troubles with it and almost always in conditions where they could not control sound levels. You can overload it. You should make r...

Re: how to hear audio recording from cassete player to pc

It depends a great deal on how you connected your tape machine to your computer, but if you did use the Stereo Line-In of your soundcard (blue) ... http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/soundCardFinal2.jpg ...then it should be possible to set Audacity to play the live recording back to you. Audacit...

Re: Custom ffmpeg Export

saved as Custom ffmpeg Export Custom FFMpeg Export as what? Yes, listening to the file go by at high speed means you opened a file that Audacity does not know how to play, so it plays the file as if it were not compressed. The difference between the speed of playback and the expected speed is the c...

Re: No Sound or Recording

(However, Freecorder does horrible things to my pc which required me to re-install Windows 7 from scratch on a few occasions). What sorts of horrible things? Did you install Win7 on a very old machine? Windows 7 had higher requirements for machine resources than earlier Windows versions. A reccurin...

Re: Easy way for Audacity to use ASIO?

Yes. You can compile (build) the Audacity software with ASIO support built-in. This process is fully supported and legal, but it does work out a lot better if you know what "included libraries" and "tar balls" are. Programmers like to think everybody can do this, but that hasn't ...

Re: corrupt files?

Which Windows and Which Audacity? What's your computer like and what are you recording? Reinstalling Audacity doesn't reinstall Audacity, so that may not have done any good at all. Audacity leaves significant pieces of itself behind to make upgrades easier. If you're using a modern version of Audaci...

Re: Which PCs allow recording sound from soundcard?

This is a Behringer UCA-202. It has very nice Stereo Line-In and Stereo Line-Out. Connect them together (Instead of the mixer) and select them in Windows Control Panels and Audacity Devices. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA202Lenovo.jpg It even gives you a place to plug headphones or...
